Illustration & Graphic Design
Besides oil painting, I also am an experienced designer.[toggle title_open=”Close” title_closed=”More About Me As A Designer…” hide=”yes” border=”yes” style=”default” excerpt_length=”0″ read_more_text=”Read More” read_less_text=”Read Less” include_excerpt_html=”no”]I graduated with a degree in Advertising Art in the pre-digital dark ages just as the graphic design world was on the verge of a computer renaissance. Out of school and on my own, I immersed myself in learning everything about these new tools early on (if you’ve ever had to type spec you’ll understand my appreciation), finding my traditional skills provided a solid foundation. I have and will continue to embrace adapting and learning along with the ongoing evolution of the design world.
I have decades of experience working in both digital and traditional platforms. I have used Adobe products daily for almost 2 decades, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and DreamWeaver. I also have worked extensively in Microsoft Office products, especially Word, Excel and Power Point, integrating use of these programs in my design process when called for.
An accomplished fine artist, I have the ability to produce a wide range of illustrations in many traditional mediums, including watercolor, gouache, graphite, pen & ink, prismacolor, acrylic and oil.
With a understanding of both, I’m adept at integrating my digital and traditional skills in creating designs for a wide variety of formats from printed materials (posters, brochures, business cards, t-shirts, etc) to digital graphics (social media graphics and ads, web design, email newsletter campaigns).
Whatever the format, media or output, my primary focus is to answer two questions; what is the message that needs to be communicated and what is the best means to achieve that end. I work closely with my clients to find the result that meets their needs.[/toggle]
