“A Long Way Down” sums up the vertical aspirations and fearlessness of a desert bighorn sheep. For the most part wiped out in Southern Arizona, a few have been given a safe home at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, where this one enjoyed some unrestricted climbing time. Since this was painted, some new bighorns were acquired from New Mexico and released into the Pusch Ridge area of the Catalina Mountains north of Tucson Arizona, and will hopefully mark the return of the desert bighorn.
