A roan Salt River Wild Horse deals with the heat by splashing in the river. This desert river provides refreshment, hydration and forage of eel grass for these horses, a big part their diet. The Salt River Wild Horses are located east of the Phoenix area, in a river heavily relied on for recreation year round for the booming desert metropolis. The horses are comfortable but not familiar with the humans, often grazing within feet of picnic tables or wading close to kayaker’s and tubers escaping the heat, an unspoken mutual arrangement of coexisting making this a beautiful place to be.
