Wow, It’s been a hot summer all over the place!  I hope everyone is staying cool and comfortable, I feel for everyone suffering from excesssive heat because it’s one of my least favorites parts of living in the desert!  The countdown to October is what helps me get through the summer… and there’s less than two months to go!

Fortunately, the heat hasn’t slowed me down too much. I have quite a bit of new work both finished and in progress, lots of commissions being worked on and some upcoming shows to keep me quite busy for the foreseeable future!

EXCITING NEWS… **Update 8/13/12

I’m extremely pleased to announce that I have been selected by the Del Mar Turf Club to be the artist commissioned to paint the winner of the prestigious 2012 $1 Million Pacific Classic to be run at Del Mar August 26!

It’s an honor to be included on the list of recognized artists who have been chosen in the past.  I’m thrilled to get a chance to spend another way cool weekend at Del Mar and then I get to paint whichever of the awesome horses entered wins this race!

It’s pretty cool to get put up in a nice hotel and rub elbows with the big-wigs at the track.  I can’t wait!

Just Added – New Commission Gallery!

Finally, a gallery with samples of some portraits I’ve done (on the upper left menu or click here)! Feel free to enjoy looking through these pieces, including a recent commission of an Arabian named Impulze…

On that note, my commission load has increased greatly this past year, so if you or someone you know has interest commissioning a gift for the upcoming holiday season, you’ll want to get started in the next couple months (I do have Gift Certificates available too). Visit my Commission Page for more info.

New Work…

“A Face in the Crowd”
12” x 36” oil on canvas

Untitled – The 2012 Preakness stretch duel featuring I’ll Have Another & Bodemiester
18” x 24” oil on canvas

“Morgan Mystique ”
12” x 24” oil on canvas

“On Course”
18” x 24” oil on canvas

And an unusual commission that left me working from a different perspective; working with something already 3D as opposed to painting an image to look 3D on a 2D surface.  Of course it was especially fun because the request was for a Zenyatta “portrait” (life sized, which for some reason made it even more fun)…

Upcoming Shows…

My apparently crowd-pleasing painting “Ethan” is not only in this exhibit (with a couple other pieces), but actually became the image used on the invitation and promotional materials for An Equine Jubilee show!

If you’re near Delaware, Ohio, drop by and check out all the wonderful equine work in this show!

I also have a couple pieces in another prestigeous western art show…
